“Era un hermoso lugar donde los magnolios y las camelias en flor habían crecido espléndidamente alrededor de un pequeño estanque circundado por helechos y hiedras. Las ramas de uno de los magnolios se habían inclinado hacia el agua, adoptando la forma de una cascada y sus flores rosas casi rozaban la superficie en un movimiento susurrante, como si la naturaleza se abrazara a sí misma. Ehsaw se quedó contemplando en silencio aquel paraje. No sabía por qué, quizá fuera por su equilibrada delicadeza o por aquel instante de efímera belleza que no duraría más que unas pocas semanas hasta que las flores se marchitaran y cayeran, o por el frescor del agua y del viento que lo animaban dándole vida; fuera por lo que fuese, Ehsaw deseó quedarse ahí para siempre, como si un reloj se hubiera detenido para ella, con la conciencia de quien sabe que nunca más volverá a moverse.” (M. «It was a beautiful place where magnolias and camellias in bloom had grown splendidly around a small pond surrounded by ferns and ivy. The branches of one of the magnolias had bent towards the water, taking the form of a waterfall, and its pink blossoms almost brushed the surface in a whispering movement, as if nature was embracing itself. Ehsaw stood gazing silently at the scene. She did not know why, perhaps it was for its balanced delicacy or for that instant of ephemeral beauty that would last only a few weeks until the flowers faded and fell, or for the freshness of the water and the wind that animated it, giving it life; whatever it was, Ehsaw wished she could stay there forever, as if a clock had stopped for her, with the consciousness of one who knows that it will never move again».
